Technical Claims Manager – Legal Portal Specialist

About the role

This senior position leads the legal and technical strategy for OIC and MOJ portal claims within a large legal services business in West Yorkshire. The manager will set case‑handling standards, oversee litigation compliance and build a new portal claims team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the legal and technical strategy for OIC and MOJ portal claims, defining case handling standards and decision frameworks.
• Provide senior litigation oversight, ensuring all matters comply with CPR, SRA requirements and professional duties.
• Build and support a new portal claims team as part of an operations leadership group of around 80 people.
• Lead technical assurance, audit and governance across portal and non‑portal claims, identifying risk, quality issues and improvement opportunities.
• Set criteria for case movement, including exit from the portal, track changes or escalation to specialist handling.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with strong experience in OIC and MOJ portal claims.
• Background in RTA, personal injury or motor claims, from either claimant or defendant side.
• Proven ability to supervise litigation and apply CPR, small claims and fast‑track procedures.
• Experienced in influencing senior leadership and providing clear technical direction.
• Skilled in technical audit, quality assurance, case strategy, regulatory compliance and legal governance.
