Technical Documents Manager - UAS Programmes
Tekever · Bristol
Job description
About the role
Tekever is looking for an experienced Technical Documentation Manager to join its growing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) capability and lead the development, structure and lifecycle management of technical publications for its Unmanned Air System (UAS) programmes. The role takes ownership of the technical documents so that they are accurate, compliant and delivered on schedule to support airworthiness and in-service support of the platform.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, authoring, review and approval of S1000D-compliant data modules across the publication lifecycle.
- Manage the Common Source Database (CSDB), data module code (DMC) structures and the Data Module Requirements List (DMRL), ensuring correct classification, version control and configuration management.
- Liaise with customers and regulatory bodies to confirm documentation meets contractual and airworthiness requirements (e.g. MAA, Def Stan 00-600 series or equivalent).
- Coordinate with engineering change processes so documentation stays in step with design baselines.
- Define and implement a documentation strategy aligned with business objectives and standards, and support Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) delivery where applicable.
- Manage document reviews, sign-off cycles and audit trails, and report progress, risks and milestones to programme leadership.
Required profile
- Familiarity with ASD S1000D standards and experience managing S1000D-compliant technical documentation, ideally in defence or aerospace.
- Direct experience producing or managing an Air-System Document Set (ADS) or equivalent for a military or complex air platform.
- Experience on a UAS/UAV/defence programme, or a strong understanding of the documentation needs of unmanned/aerial platforms.
- Experience managing a technical authoring or publications team.
- Eligible for and willing to undergo UK SC security clearance vetting, due to defence contracts.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Tekever sites (UK, Portugal, US, Europe) and possibly to deployed operations.
Required skills
- Solid understanding of CSDB tools, data module structuring and business rules implementation.
- Knowledge of configuration management and change control in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Def Stan 00-600 series or equivalent NATO/MoD documentation standards.
- Experience with IETP authoring and viewer tools.
- Stakeholder management, document planning and scheduling against programme milestones, and ability to manage external suppliers or subcontracted teams.
What we offer
- Competitive salary with a discretionary annual bonus and a pension contribution match of up to 10%.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private medical insurance, private dental care and an employee assistance programme.
- Career development opportunities and a flexible hybrid model, typically three days a week at core UK sites such as Bristol.
- A rewards platform with high street discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, including electric car and cycle-to-work options.
