Technical Lead – Claims

About the role

Verlingue is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to provide high‑impact technical leadership across complex casualty, property, motor and specialty claims. Reporting to the Claims Director, you will influence claims strategy, mentor the team and act as a trusted advisor to key clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead handling of high‑value, complex claims, delivering technical direction and oversight.
• Interpret policy coverage, liability and quantum to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Develop and implement claims strategies, including litigation management when required.
• Serve as escalation point for technically challenging or contentious claims.
• Provide proactive, strategic advice to clients and support client presentations, renewals and tenders.
• Negotiate with insurers, loss adjusters and legal representatives to secure early coverage agreements and efficient settlements.
• Analyse claims data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Mentor and coach colleagues, raising overall team capability.

Required profile

• Significant experience in complex insurance claims across casualty, property, motor or specialty lines.
• Proven ability to interpret policy wording and manage litigation.
• Strong client‑facing skills with a track record of building trusted relationships.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence insurers and market partners.
• Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decision‑making.
• Leadership experience, including coaching and developing teams.
