Technical Lead - Java (AI Enabled)

About the role

Sanderson is seeking a hands‑on Technical Lead to drive the design, development and delivery of AI‑enabled, cloud‑native Java applications. You will combine deep Java expertise with leadership, guiding a talented engineering team to build scalable micro‑services and intelligent automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and delivery of Java 17+ / Spring Boot micro‑services.
• Own system design, engineering standards and API development for high‑performance distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, coaching and technical guidance.
• Champion Agile delivery and collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps and Architecture teams.
• Drive adoption of AI engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor and Claude.
• Implement AI‑powered features using LLMs, RAG, semantic search and intelligent automation.
• Design workflow orchestration solutions with Camunda or similar BPM platforms.
• Lead the implementation of Agentic AI capabilities, autonomous workflows and AI‑driven decision making.
• Ensure observability, reliability, security and platform scalability.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on Java development experience, including Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer in micro‑services and distributed systems.
• Strong background in RESTful API design and cloud platforms.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Camunda.
• Demonstrated delivery of AI‑enabled solutions, including LLM integration, RAG, vector databases or prompt engineering.
• Solid understanding of Agentic AI, AI orchestration and intelligent workflow automation.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, CI/CD pipelines, OAuth2, OpenID Connect and JWT security.
• Excellent Agile delivery and stakeholder management skills.
