Technical Manager – NDT

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead its Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) services. This hands‑on position combines technical assurance with commercial support, acting as the primary technical reference for clients and projects. You will work closely with senior management and a team of NDT technicians in a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and ensure NDT projects are compliant, well‑engineered and meet required standards.
• Develop, review and improve NDT procedures, techniques and audit processes.
• Oversee the quality, acceptance and reporting of NDT inspection results.
• Maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17020, UKAS and client specifications.
• Support commercial activities by preparing technical responses, estimates and tender presentations.
• Mentor and guide NDT technicians and contractors, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong NDT background with significant industry experience.
• PCN Level 2 qualification in Ultrasonics (UT) and in Phased Array or TOFD (or equivalent practical experience).
• Good understanding of BS EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 and related quality/competence requirements.
• Experience developing or reviewing NDT procedures and providing technical assurance.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• PCN Level 2 Ultrasonics (UT).
• PCN Level 2 Phased Array or TOFD.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17020 standards.
• Procedure development and technical audit capability.
