Technical Services Manager – Mechanical

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Services Manager to lead mechanical engineering and maintenance services within a complex, critical facilities environment in Surrey. The role oversees operations, ensures safety and compliance, and drives continuous improvement across all service delivery aspects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of mechanical services, maintaining operational excellence and high customer satisfaction.
• Act as primary escalation point for technical and operational issues.
• Implement best‑practice maintenance standards and procedures.
• Manage and develop the Operations & Maintenance team, including workload allocation and performance management.
• Ensure planned preventative and reactive maintenance are performed on schedule.
• Oversee Appointed Person duties and Safe Systems of Work for all maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, O&M manuals, SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and statutory records.
• Coordinate specialist contractors and vendors, ensuring safe and compliant delivery.
• Support project delivery, contractor procurement, technical evaluations and lifecycle planning.
• Monitor KPIs, service performance and maintenance compliance, providing regular reports.
• Participate in emergency response, out‑of‑hours support and critical plant shutdowns.

Required profile

• Mechanically focused engineering leader with extensive experience in maintenance operations within a critical or highly regulated environment.
• Minimum five years’ experience in technical services, estates, facilities management or building services.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage contractors and drive continuous improvement.
