Technical Team Leader

About the role

Avia Technique, a leading UK aviation maintenance and repair centre, is seeking a Technical Team Leader for its Wokingham facility. You will manage a small team of skilled technicians responsible for repairing, maintaining and inspecting Line Replacement Units (LRUs) in the Eaton Pump Workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop workshop technicians.
• Ensure maintenance activities follow approved data, CMMs and company procedures.
• Oversee assembly, disassembly, inspection and overhaul of hydraulic pump LRUs.
• Drive departmental KPIs, productivity targets and customer turnaround times.
• Prioritise workload and allocate resources efficiently.
• Maintain compliance with aviation regulations, quality and health & safety standards.
• Identify training needs and coach team members.
• Promote LEAN principles and continuous improvement.
• Keep tooling and test equipment serviceable and calibrated.
• Support audits, customer visits and technical discussions.
• Handle basic HR matters and act as key holder with AOG responsibilities.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical engineering background.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles and workshop practices.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Required skills

• Hydraulic pump maintenance and overhaul.
• Interpretation of Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs).
• Application of LEAN methodology.
• Calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
