Technical Training Lead

About the role

This newly created position sits within the People Team of an established industrial organisation. You will lead the development and delivery of a flagship academy training centre, equipping apprentices, students and employees with the technical skills needed for manufacturing and engineering roles.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver comprehensive technical trades programmes, including welding techniques and industry safety practices.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external trainers and industry experts to create industry‑leading curricula.
• Foster a positive learning environment and promote a culture of continuous development.
• Provide practical and pastoral support to apprentice cohorts throughout their apprenticeship schemes.
• Assess and evaluate apprentices’ technical competence through tests and hands‑on assessments.
• Maintain and set up the training facility, ensuring it meets best‑practice standards.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry developments, new technologies and emerging techniques.
• Act as a coach and mentor, modelling the company’s values.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering technical trades training in a site or college setting.
• Recognised welding certifications and a strong background as a trades professional.
• Experience working with apprenticeships and knowledge of current apprenticeship standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively at all levels.
• Supportive, patient and able to lead by example.
• Proactive, initiative‑driven and committed to building an industry‑leading academy.
