Technician – Construction Department (Electrical & Plumbing)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Technician to join the Construction department at our Hackney Campus. You will support teaching and learning by preparing practical workshops, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for electrical and plumbing students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons and assessments.
• Set up and demonstrate tools, machinery and equipment safely.
• Maintain and repair tools and machinery, keeping accurate service records.
• Organise resources in line with college policies and manage stock levels.
• Support students during practical sessions to uphold safe working practices.
• Provide technical assistance to staff and respond to students’ practical needs.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or experience in the electrical and plumbing trade.
• Practical knowledge of traditional and modern techniques.
• Experience in construction or multi‑skill technical environments.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good understanding of health and safety in workshop settings.
• Clear communicator with a friendly approach to supporting learners.
