Technology Maintenance & Project Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Technology Maintenance & Project Engineer to join the TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations team at the Blackwall Tunnel. The role acts as the primary liaison between the main contract team, the technology subcontractor Cubic, TfL stakeholders and other technical partners, ensuring the reliable performance of tunnel technology systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the relationship with technology subcontractor Cubic, ensuring delivery, performance and contractual commitments are met.
• Coordinate with TfL and other technical teams to integrate technology systems with civil, electrical, mechanical and SCADA elements.
• Provide technical oversight for communications, control, monitoring and networked infrastructure.
• Review and validate technical submissions, designs, test documents and commissioning evidence for compliance.
• Support emergency response to critical incidents and coordinate rapid resolution to restore system functionality safely.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a technology‑focused engineering discipline or relevant highways and traffic technology experience.
• Proven experience managing subcontractors, preferably in technology or systems integration.
• Understanding of tunnel technologies, communications networks and control systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Valid full driving licence and ability to travel to sites as required.
