Telehandler Driver – Holiday Cover

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced telehandler driver to provide holiday cover on a busy new build housing site in Sunderland. This short‑term contract role offers reliable operators the chance to pick up extra hours and work alongside an established housebuilder.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate a telescopic handler across a live new build housing development.
• Unload delivery vehicles and distribute materials (bricks, blocks, timber, roof trusses) to designated plots.
• Assist sub‑contractors and site trades with scheduled material lifts.
• Carry out daily plant pre‑checks, log maintenance checks, and keep the machine clean and secure.
• Work closely with the Site Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Step off the machine when required to assist with general site housekeeping and maintain an organised, safe environment.

Required profile

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with telescopic handler category (essential).
• Proven experience operating a telehandler on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE (hard hat, high‑vis jacket/vest, steel toe cap boots).
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Strong commitment to site health and safety, especially pedestrian segregation around residential plots.
• Excellent punctuality, reliability, and communication skills.
• Based in or within easy commuting distance of Sunderland.
