Telephone Collector

About the role

Credit Style, part of the Bristow & Sutor Group (over 450 employees across the UK in debt recovery), is hiring a Telephone Collector for its offices just north of Sheffield City Centre. The role involves making and receiving calls from businesses and individuals to arrange repayment of outstanding debts, using resilience and negotiation skills when debts are disputed. It is a full-time permanent position with shifts between 8am and 8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5.30pm on Fridays and 8am to 1pm on weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Make and receive telephone calls to recover outstanding debts
• Negotiate repayment solutions and handle disputed debts sensitively and professionally
• Enter accurate records of conversations and repayment agreements into the customer database
• Enter customer affordability data accurately so repayments are sustainable
• Follow debt collection processes and guidelines, treating customers fairly
• Work towards personal and team targets

Required profile

• Previous call centre or credit control experience is important
• At least 2 years' experience in collections, debt recovery or sales preferred
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication
• Comfortable working to targets and handling difficult conversations about debts and affordability
• Problem-solving ability and strong IT skills, learning new systems quickly

The role is on-site in the Sheffield area (S3 postcode) and requires attendance at the office as requested. Applicants must complete CCJ/DBS and other background checks before starting.
