Telesales & Counter Sales Representative

About the role

Lawsons, the UK’s leading independent supplier of timber, fencing and building materials, is looking for a Telesales & Counter Sales Representative for its Havant branch. You will be the first point of contact for customers, delivering product information, processing orders and ensuring a high‑quality experience both over the phone and at the branch counter.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to inbound enquiries via phone, email and in‑person at the counter.
• Generate sales by taking accurate orders, upselling where appropriate and following up on leads.
• Process orders, quotes and returns using company systems, ensuring correct pricing and documentation.
• Maintain customer accounts with accurate data and coordinate collections, deliveries and special requests with yard and delivery teams.
• Assist customers at the counter, load small items and keep the sales area tidy and welcoming.
• Resolve enquiries and complaints professionally, escalating when necessary.
• Support stock checks, price updates and merchandising to keep the showroom well presented.

Required profile

• Previous telesales, counter sales or customer service experience in a builders’ merchant, timber, landscaping or similar trade environment.
• Excellent telephone manner and clear verbal communication.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
• Customer‑focused, approachable and reliable, with the ability to work well within a team.

Required skills

• Experience using sales or CRM systems

What we offer

• Competitive salary (£31,000‑£32,000 per year, dependent on experience)
• Full‑time permanent contract (07:30‑17:00 Mon‑Fri, plus alternate Saturdays)
