Temporary Accounts Assistant – Hybrid (Watford)

About the role

This temporary position offers a hybrid working pattern (2 days in the office, 3 days remote) for an experienced Accounts Assistant in Watford. You will join a well‑respected finance team and support day‑to‑day financial operations, focusing on reconciliations and financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and complete balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Support month‑end close activities, including journal entries and accruals.
• Assist with cash and bank reconciliations.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations when required.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Contribute to process improvements and ad‑hoc finance projects.
• Collaborate with colleagues across finance and the wider business to resolve queries.

Required profile

• Previous accounting or finance experience with strong reconciliation exposure.
• Ability to work quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good Excel proficiency and confidence using finance systems.
• Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• AAT qualification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Available to start immediately or on short notice.
