Temporary Customer Service Advisor (Call Handler)

About the role

We are looking for a temporary Customer Service Advisor to join a census data collection team in Exeter. The role involves making outbound calls to households, gathering demographic information and ensuring data is accurately recorded. It is a full‑time, 35‑hour week position lasting approximately one month.

Key responsibilities

• Make outbound calls to customers to encourage completion of the census questionnaire.
• Follow up with individuals who have not yet responded.
• Collect feedback and demographic data using structured questioning.
• Record responses accurately and input data into spreadsheets and the company’s in‑house system.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including AWABS requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a call centre or high‑volume telephone environment.
• Confidence making outbound calls throughout the day.
• Resilience and professionalism when handling challenging conversations.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Required skills

• Excel (spreadsheets)

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £14.76.
• Monday‑Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm schedule.
• Temporary 1‑month contract with possible earlier start.
• On‑site role in Exeter (no on‑site parking).
