Temporary Sous Chef – 2‑4 Weeks Cover

About the role

This is a short‑term, 2‑4 week contract for a Sous Chef to cover staff holidays at a highly‑rated, 150‑seat restaurant in West Sussex. The role offers a competitive rate of £19 per hour and involves working across both lunch and dinner services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and plate dishes for lunch (12 pm–3 pm) and dinner (6 pm–9 pm) shifts, Monday to Saturday.
• Oversee kitchen operations during Sunday service (12 pm–7 pm) and ensure the kitchen is cleared by the end of service.
• Maintain the restaurant’s Rosette‑standard quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Manage a small team, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to health and safety standards.
• Utilise locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create menu‑driven dishes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a comparable role within a Rosette‑standard restaurant.
• Strong background working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
• Commitment to high quality, consistency, and culinary excellence.

Required skills

• Experience with seasonal menu development.
• Ability to work efficiently under service pressure.
