Temporary Works Coordinator – HMP Glasgow Project

About the role

We are seeking a Temporary Works Coordinator to join the HMP Glasgow team on one of Scotland’s largest construction projects. The role is based on the HMP Glasgow site in Glasgow, offering a hybrid working option and a 42.5‑hour week with some flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all temporary works activities, ensuring design briefs match site conditions.
• Assess external designers’ competencies and conduct independent design checks for structural integrity and compliance.
• Maintain temporary works documentation within site management systems and brief relevant parties on design specifics and risks.
• Issue load permits and perform regular inspections of temporary works.
• Mentor Temporary Works Supervisors and lead regular meetings with subcontractors’ coordinators.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on major engineering or building projects.
• Qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum HND/HNC, preferably BEng or higher).
• Comprehensive understanding of temporary works management procedures and experience with reinforced concrete, formwork and falsework schemes.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certifications, plus a full driving licence.
• Strong commitment to safety, health, environmental standards and sustainability practices.
