Temporary Works Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Leeds‑based Construction Engineering team, focusing on temporary works and traffic management solutions. You will contribute to safe, buildable designs across a range of high‑profile projects.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret client technical requirements, challenge where necessary and develop fee proposals.
• Lead and organise the daily workload of engineers and technical staff, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, SHE Management System and Quality Management System.
• Produce design deliverables such as calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments, and identify value‑engineering opportunities.
• Act as the primary liaison with clients, design and site teams, managing progress meetings and contractual obligations.
• Monitor financial and commercial aspects of projects, provide regular reports, and raise early warnings on overspends.
• Maintain project documentation, review invoices and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or progressing towards CEng) with a relevant institution such as ICE.
• Level 6 or Level 7 engineering qualification together with significant experience in designing temporary works.
• Proven ability to deliver safe, buildable solutions and to manage client and stakeholder relationships.
