Test Lead - Distribution Operations

About the role

Very, the digital retailer behind Very, is looking for a Test Lead in Derby to help ensure changes across its distribution operation are ready to work safely, reliably and effectively. Reporting to the Flow Ops Test Manager, you will lead and coordinate User Acceptance Testing across several projects in the Business Change portfolio, bringing structure to testing and giving stakeholders a clear view of progress and risk. You will also help shape the strategy, methodology and standards used across agile and waterfall projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as main point of contact for testing, working with technical, project and operational colleagues to turn requirements into controlled test activity.
• Define test strategies, scope, plans, scripts, acceptance criteria and go/no-go measures.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing and regression testing across multiple projects.
• Track test results, defects, risks and issues to show stakeholders release readiness.
• Coordinate other testing resources when needed.
• Translate functional requirements into testing that reflects how systems will work in an operational environment.
• Investigate issues, recommend solutions and escalate risks at the right time.
• Support new releases with clear documentation and input into standard operating materials.

Required profile

• Experience testing core systems, preferably in a large-scale automated logistics or warehouse operation.
• Strong knowledge of system testing, regression testing and User Acceptance Testing.
• Experience creating test strategies, plans, scripts and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to identify, explain and challenge differences between expected and actual system behaviour.
• Experience working with technical and business stakeholders, including project, development and operational teams.
• Experience with KNAPP WCS/WMS or Dürkopp systems is particularly valuable.

Required skills

• Familiarity with test management or technical tools such as SOAPUI and AWS.
• Structured testing knowledge and confidence working across technical and operational teams.
