Therapeutic Foster Carer – Support Children with Complex Needs

About the role
Therapeutic foster carers provide a safe, nurturing home for children and young people with complex needs, helping them transition from residential care or avoid unsuitable placements. The role offers a stable family environment combined with specialised therapeutic support.
Key responsibilities
- Offer a consistent, loving home environment tailored to each child's emotional and developmental needs.
- Implement therapeutic strategies learned through advanced training.
- Collaborate with Buckinghamshire Council’s fostering and children’s services teams for 24/7 support.
- Maintain detailed records and communicate progress to support professionals.
- Participate in regular supervision and training sessions.
Required profile
- Patience, empathy and resilience.
- Ability to provide a calm, consistent household.
- No prior fostering experience required; experience in caring, education, youth work, health or social care is valued.
- Strong commitment to the wellbeing of children and young people.
