Therapist – Support Young People with Complex Needs

About the role

Join SWAAY as a Therapist working with a small caseload of young people who have experienced developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will deliver both individual and group therapeutic interventions, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to embed therapy into daily care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver individual therapeutic programmes based on assessments and clinical guidance.
• Provide evidence‑based group therapy programmes for young people with complex trauma and behavioural needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary core teams, residential and education staff to embed therapy into daily care.
• Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, ensuring therapeutic consistency.
• Maintain accurate clinical administration, case records and documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s level qualification in a relevant therapeutic discipline or Level 4 Counselling qualification (or higher).
• Recognised training in Integrative Counselling, Psychotherapy or CBT with experience delivering interventions.
• Current registration/accreditation with a professional body (e.g., HCPC, BACP, BABCP, UKCP).
• Experience working therapeutically with children and young people, especially those with complex trauma or attachment difficulties.
• Driving licence (required for travel between sites).
