Tier 1 Security Analyst – Entry Level (Glasgow)

About the role

Join Sapphire’s state‑of‑the‑art Security Operations Centre in Glasgow as a Tier 1 Security Analyst. You will be the first line of defence, triaging security alerts and supporting incident response for a range of managed services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to alerts from SIEM, EDR, Microsoft Sentinel, vulnerability management, phishing and threat‑intelligence tools within SLA.
• Perform triage, in‑depth analysis and investigation following documented playbooks.
• Leverage sophisticated threat‑intelligence feeds and historical data to investigate incidents across multiple customer environments.
• Escalate or resolve security incidents and contribute to post‑incident reviews.
• Build strong relationships with client IT and information‑security teams.

Required profile

• Resourceful, adaptive and able to work under pressure, including during live incidents.
• Eager to develop expertise in cybersecurity through on‑the‑job training and provided learning resources.
• Strong awareness of the cyber‑security industry and best practices.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel).
• Knowledge of Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) solutions.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management and phishing detection tools.
• Understanding of threat‑intelligence, XDR and SOAR automation.
• Basic knowledge of network, cloud, AI/ML concepts as they relate to security.
