TIG Mop Operative – Production Operative

About the role
The TIG Mop Operative joins a busy manufacturing site in Sparkford, supporting the production of high‑quality stainless‑steel components. Full training is provided, so no prior TIG‑mopping experience is required, making it an ideal entry point for candidates with a background in production, assembly or general manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Remove weld discoloration from stainless steel and other metals using specialist mild‑acid cleaning products, ensuring a pristine finish.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, wearing the required PPE—including protective coveralls—while working in the TIG Mop area.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining the highest quality standards and documenting any deviations.
- Operate, clean and perform routine maintenance on production equipment and tools to keep the line running efficiently.
- Assist with assembly tasks using hand tools and air tools, supporting colleagues as needed.
- Inspect finished products against customer specifications and record inspection results.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and contribute to continuous‑improvement projects across the department.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a factory, production, assembly or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Reliable with excellent time‑keeping and a strong commitment to quality.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn new specialist skills, and good communication abilities.
- Problem‑solving mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required skills

- Basic operation of production machinery and equipment.
