Toolmaker / Grinder

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker / Grinder to join a busy engineering team in Ash Vale. The role involves producing high‑quality precision components using both manual and CNC equipment while adhering to strict tolerances and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform surface, cylindrical, bore/internal and ring grinding operations.
• Carry out honing processes where required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Use precision measuring equipment to inspect finished parts.
• Maintain production schedules and meet customer deadlines.
• Work independently and collaboratively within the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a manual or CNC machinist, toolmaker or toolroom engineer.
• Strong background in precision grinding across multiple processes.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and deliver consistent quality.
• Apprentice‑trained or equivalent hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £33,000‑£39,000 per annum, DOE.
• 39‑hour week with early finish every Friday (1:15 pm).
• Overtime paid at 1.3× (weekdays) and 1.5× (weekends).
