TP141 Commissioning Engineer – HV Substations (Outside IR35)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced TP141 Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist high‑voltage engineering contractor on two long‑term substation projects in East Anglia and Oxfordshire. The role involves safe commissioning and energisation of HV transmission assets up to 400 kV, working on a subcontract basis alongside established project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out commissioning activities on HV transmission substations up to 400 kV.
• Perform primary plant, protection and control commissioning in line with National Grid TP141 procedures.
• Execute functional testing, interlocking checks and support energisation activities.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, test records and handover packs.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients and site teams to ensure safe and efficient programme delivery.
• Travel to project sites in East Anglia or Oxfordshire as required.

Required profile

• Current National Grid TP141 Commissioning Engineer authorisation.
• Proven experience commissioning HV substations within the transmission sector.
• Strong understanding of National Grid commissioning procedures and safety rules.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
