Trade Compliance Coordinator – Customs Administration

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position supports a leading international freight forwarding and logistics organisation based in the Heathrow area. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate trade compliance reporting, customs declarations and liaison with HMRC.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import, export, transit, ICS and ENS declarations in line with UK/EU regulations.
• Determine correct tariff classifications for brands moving from the EU and issue UK‑specific import guidance.
• Maintain customs procedures, audit entries and ensure compliance with import/export legislation.
• Manage the CITES portal, uploading import and re‑export certificates.
• Create and update written procedures, SOPs and workflow efficiencies.
• Report sales leads and complete ad‑hoc spot checks, providing weekly reports to line manager and Head of Department.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal departments.

Required profile

• Experience in customs or trade compliance within a large organisation or brokerage.
• In‑depth knowledge of UK and EU customs regulations, commodity codes, incoterms and valuation.
• Familiarity with CITES import/export permits (desirable).
• Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels.

Required skills

• Intermediate to strong Excel skills.
