Trainee Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Accountant to join our small, supportive practice near Blandford. This full‑time, permanent position offers the chance to develop your accounting career while working with a variety of clients across different sectors in a modern office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Perform bookkeeping tasks, bank reconciliations and VAT return submissions.
• Support the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns.
• Maintain accurate client financial records and files.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and answer basic queries.
• Help with payroll processing and other ad‑hoc accounting duties as required.

Required profile

• AAT qualified or currently studying towards the qualification.
• Good understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Previous experience in an accountancy practice is desirable.
• Familiarity with Xero, Sage or QuickBooks is a plus.
