Trainee Calibration Engineer – Full‑Time, Bridport

About the role

Our client, a specialist technical services organisation, is seeking a Trainee Calibration Engineer to join their Bridport team. The role offers a structured 12‑month development programme that combines laboratory work with regular travel to customer sites across the UK. It is ideal for candidates with an electrical or mechanical background who want to build a career in calibration and inspection services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with calibration and repair of a wide range of precision instruments and equipment.
• Carry out laboratory‑based calibration activities following established procedures.
• Support onsite calibration and testing activities at customer premises across the UK.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with quality and accreditation standards.
• Complete technical assessments and training milestones throughout the development programme.
• Travel to customer locations, representing the business professionally and building positive relationships.
• Utilise mobile technology and company systems to manage work records and communications.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure projects are completed on schedule.

Required profile

• Electrical or mechanical background (degree or equivalent experience).
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK and occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and professional demeanor.
• Commitment to completing a structured training programme and achieving competency.
