Trainee Fall Protection / Height Safety Engineer

About the role

This is a full‑time, permanent trainee position with a family‑owned specialist in height safety. You will be based in Rochester and work on commercial sites across London and the South East, gaining hands‑on experience installing and maintaining fall protection and access systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers on‑site with the installation of lifelines, handrails, fixed ladders, gantries and other access solutions.
• Support routine maintenance, inspection and repair of fall protection equipment.
• Travel to various client locations while adhering to safe working practices and site procedures.
• Learn industry standards and techniques for height safety engineering.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Comfortable and confident working at height.
• Practical, hands‑on attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Reliable, team‑oriented with good communication skills.
• Positive work ethic and strong motivation to develop a career in safety engineering.

Required skills

• Installation of fall protection systems.
• Maintenance of lifelines, handrails and fixed ladders.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for work at height.

What we offer

• Salary up to £35,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half (Mon‑Sat) and double time (Sun).
• Full training, including support towards a Level 3 industry qualification.
