Trainee Mobile Asphalt & Concrete Batcher

About the role

We are looking for a motivated trainee to join our Daviot site in Inverness and support the operation of our mobile asphalt and concrete batching plant. Working under the Quarry Manager, you will help produce high‑quality mixes while learning the fundamentals of plant control, maintenance and health‑safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control the mobile asphalt and concrete batching plant according to production schedules.
• Batch materials to meet approved mix‑design specifications and monitor temperatures, moisture, slump and output.
• Record production data, stock levels, delivery tickets and quality‑control results.
• Carry out routine inspections, basic preventative maintenance and adjust plant settings to maintain product quality.
• Coordinate with quarry operatives, drivers and site supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Identify and report plant faults, breakdown risks or material issues and maintain housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Reliable, detail‑oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Eager to learn and develop skills in plant operation and maintenance.

• Use of computerized batching control systems.
• Basic mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding.
• Understanding of concrete and asphalt mix designs.
