Trainee Mobile Asphalt/Concrete Batcher

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Trainee Mobile Asphalt/Concrete Batcher to join our Daviot site in Inverness. Working under the Quarry Manager, you will help operate and maintain our mobile batching plant, supporting safe and efficient production of asphalt and concrete mixes.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control mobile concrete and asphalt batching plants according to production schedules.
• Batch materials accurately to meet approved mix‑design specifications.
• Monitor plant performance, including temperature, moisture content, slump and output.
• Carry out routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Adjust plant settings to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
• Record production data, stock levels, delivery tickets and quality control results.
• Coordinate with quarry operatives, drivers and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
• Identify and report plant faults, breakdown risks or material issues promptly.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with health, safety, environmental and quality regulations.

Required skills

• Operation of mobile concrete and asphalt batching plants.
• Interpretation of mix‑design specifications.
• Use of computerized batching control systems.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and fault‑finding.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in a quarry or construction setting.
