Trainee Service Engineer (Smoke & Fire Dampers)

About the role

Swegon is looking for a Trainee Service Engineer (also called Service Improver) to join its Service department in a standalone role, working on customer sites in the North East of the UK and Yorkshire. The engineer reports to the Area Service Manager and works on fire and smoke damper control services. The company offers training, hands-on experience and career support, and positions are open in Newcastle, Sunderland or Middlesbrough.

Key responsibilities

• Support qualified Smoke & Fire Damper Engineers, with mentoring and training, so that you become self-sufficient
• Carry out maintenance, repair, remedial and service support on smoke and fire dampers and control panels
• Fault finding
• Communicate technical information and site requirements back to the Service office
• Liaise with customers and develop working relationships with colleagues within the company
• Complete service paperwork using the online platform
• Follow health and safety requirements and complete dynamic risk assessments
• Lead generation and identify commercial opportunities for business development

Required profile

• A strong desire to learn engineering skills in the industry, with a customer-centred focus and willingness to learn
• GCSE-level education and computer literacy
• Clean driving licence
• Experience dealing with customers and communicating technical information back to the service office
• Understanding of health and safety requirements, risk assessments and method statements, and keeping an audit trail of service documentation
