Trainee Teacher – Training Programme

About the role

The John Taylor SCITT is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join a one‑year teacher training programme. You will work across two partner schools, gaining hands‑on experience while progressing towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post‑Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in planning and delivering lessons.
• Support pupil assessment and provide feedback.
• Participate in weekly training sessions at the dedicated training centre.
• Work under the guidance of a mentor who meets with you weekly.
• Gain additional experience in a special school or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) if allocated.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (final‑year students may apply).
• GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in Maths and English (Science required for primary routes).
• Passion for working with young people and a commitment to becoming a fully accredited teacher.
• Motivation to develop subject‑specific expertise.
