Trainee Technical Textiles Assistant – Graduate Opportunity

About the role

This graduate‑level position offers a hands‑on introduction to technical textiles within an innovative knitting team. You will work in a modern facility developing specialist knit‑based products and gain experience across the full production cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain industrial knitting and sewing machinery.
• Learn and use specialist software to program complex 2D and 3D knit patterns.
• Cut, join and finish technical fabrics using industrial sewing techniques, including over‑lock stitching.
• Assist with knitting trials and production runs for new high‑tech materials.
• Monitor production to ensure finished components meet strict quality standards.

Required profile

• A degree or equivalent qualification in textiles, or relevant industrial experience.
• Practical sewing skills, especially over‑lock stitching.
• Strong willingness to learn advanced technical knitting and programming.
• Good communication and a hands‑on, troubleshooting mindset.
• Physical ability to stand for periods and lift materials up to 10 kg.
• Ability to obtain standard UK security clearance.
• Desirable: familiarity with industrial knitting technology, basic experience with computerised knit programming, interest in unconventional materials such as metal yarns or composites.
