Trainee Traffic Systems Technician

About the role

SRL Traffic Systems is seeking a motivated Trainee Traffic Systems Technician to join its field team. This hands‑on position involves installing and maintaining portable traffic light systems across the UK, offering a practical introduction to traffic management technology.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver, set up and configure portable traffic light systems at customer sites.
• Perform on‑site battery exchanges to keep equipment operational.
• Inspect, repair and maintain the hire fleet in the depot.
• Load, unload and transport equipment safely using a company vehicle.
• Record activities using mobile technology and internal systems.
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring safe and correct installations.
• Participate in an on‑call rota and support out‑of‑hours situations.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence (less than 6 points).
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Practical, safety‑focused, reliable and able to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to learn technical skills on the job.

Required skills

• Basic electrical knowledge (desirable).
