Training and Competence Manager

About the role

The Training and Competence Manager will lead the development and supervision of financial advisers across the South West region. Working remotely with regular regional travel, you will act as a trusted coach, ensuring advisers meet the firm’s competency standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line supervision for advisers at all experience levels.
• Guide advisers through the journey to Chartered Adviser Status (CAS) including competency assessments, role‑plays and live observations.
• Deliver training interventions, coaching sessions and develop personalised CPD plans.
• Review KPI data to identify development opportunities and support continuous improvement of training materials.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of FCA regulations, legislation and industry standards.

Required profile

• Current experience in a Training & Competence role within Financial Services.
• Level 4 qualification (minimum) – advanced qualification desirable.
• Proven experience supervising and developing advisers in pensions, investments and protection.
• Strong understanding of financial planning and client‑focused advice.
