Training & Competency Advisor (24‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Training & Competency Advisor to join our client’s oil and gas team in Barrow in Furness on a 24‑month contract. You will be responsible for delivering and maintaining training and competence frameworks that meet UK legislation and company standards across on‑shore and off‑shore assets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a comprehensive training framework for all operated assets.
• Oversee the competence assurance framework and maintain the competence register.
• Administer training and competence data in the Management System and produce regular reports.
• Develop and maintain assessment programmes for safety‑critical, operational‑critical and technical roles.
• Provide support for assessments, verification and functional competence frameworks.
• Ensure robust governance of operational training and competence practices.
• Identify, develop and roll out training standards, processes and procedures.
• Maintain data recording systems to support KPI reporting and annual assurance programmes.
• Manage third‑party training bookings as contract owner, providing advice and authorisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in training and competency advisory within the oil and gas sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Ability to manage large‑scale training frameworks and competence registers.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
