Training Officer – Subway Operations (Fixed‑Term)

About the role
Join the Subway Operations Training Team at Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and help equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to run Scotland’s iconic Glasgow Subway safely and efficiently. This fixed‑term position focuses initially on training Operational Control Centre personnel and will expand as the Subway Modernisation Project progresses.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Training Officer and Head of Service Operations in designing, developing and delivering training programmes for Subway Operations staff.
- Create and update training materials, including interactive e‑learning modules and CGI visual aids.
- Deliver classroom and on‑the‑job training sessions for OCC staff and other operational roles.
- Assess training effectiveness and adapt programmes to meet evolving project needs.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and support to trainees to ensure high standards of safety and customer service.
Required profile
- Relevant training qualification (City & Guilds, MOI or equivalent) and A1 or D32/33 Competence Assessor certification.
- Digital Skills qualification (EDSQ or FSQ) is desirable.
- Experience designing and delivering workplace training programmes, preferably in a safety‑critical transport environment.
- Strong presentation, coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Proficiency with training authoring tools for interactive e‑learning content creation.
- Ability to produce CGI visualisations to support technical learning.
