Transactional Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transactional Finance Manager to lead the transactional finance function for our client in Cheltenham. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will ensure accurate, timely processing of day‑to‑day financial transactions while maintaining strong controls and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and support two Finance Assistants to deliver high‑quality service.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashbooks, bank postings and reconciliations.
• Manage supplier payments, staff expenses, corporate credit cards and BACS payments in line with financial controls.
• Take ownership of debt collection, cash allocation and customer account reconciliations.
• Lead month‑end close activities and support year‑end audits.
• Ensure VAT compliance and strengthen financial processes and controls across the finance function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a transactional finance environment.
• Previous team‑leadership responsibility.
• Strong month‑end expertise and sound knowledge of UK VAT.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills across the business.
