Transitions Foster Carer (Teaching Assistant)

About the role

This full‑time, home‑based position supports young people aged 11‑18 as they move from residential care into a stable family environment. It is designed for Teaching Assistants who want to extend their classroom skills into a nurturing foster home.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily care, emotional support and guidance to a child or young person.
• Help the young person develop confidence, independence and life‑skills.
• Maintain a safe, structured home environment in line with safeguarding standards.
• Participate in training, supervision and professional development sessions.
• Collaborate with social workers, schools and health professionals as required.

Required profile

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in education support.
• Age 21 or over with a spare, dedicated bedroom.
• Full UK driving licence.
• British citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain (permanent residency).
• Ability to offer a full‑time, stable and nurturing home.

Required skills

• Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults.
• Understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
