Transport Compliance Manager

About the role

The Transport Compliance Manager will lead driver and vehicle compliance at LWC Drinks’ Manchester depot, overseeing a mixed fleet of 22 vehicles and a team of 23 core drivers. The role ensures adherence to transport legislation, company policies and health‑and‑safety standards while supporting safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce EU Drivers’ Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive, coaching drivers to avoid infringements.
• Manage transport compliance activities including PMIs, MOTs, LOLER inspections and tachograph calibrations.
• Plan and maintain preventative maintenance schedules using maintenance planning systems, coordinating vehicle repairs with minimal disruption.
• Review maintenance documentation such as PMI reports, brake test results and compliance certificates, taking corrective action when required.
• Lead people‑management functions: absence management, investigations, disciplinary hearings, recruitment and employee retention.
• Prioritise competing demands, solve problems under pressure and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of EU Drivers’ Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Strong understanding of transport compliance requirements and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Experience with maintenance planning, vehicle repair coordination and documentation review.
• Proven people‑management skills and commercial awareness of operational impacts.
