Transport Manager

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead fleet compliance, driver management and overall transport operations. You will act as the nominated CPC holder, ensuring the business meets all operator licence and legislative requirements while supporting growth.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation as the CPC holder.
• Uphold FORS Silver accreditation standards, overseeing driver compliance, tachograph use and training.
• Provide senior oversight of fleet compliance, performance and vehicle maintenance processes.
• Manage vehicle servicing, inspections, MOT preparation and defect reporting.
• Liaise with workshops and suppliers to maximise fleet availability and efficiency.
• Lead health & safety investigations, corrective actions and related initiatives.
• Develop, monitor and report KPIs on compliance, safety, utilisation and service delivery.
• Identify operational improvements and cost‑saving opportunities for senior management.

Required profile

• Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification.
• Proven transport management experience within a fleet operation.
• Strong knowledge of Operator Licence compliance and DVSA regulations.
• Experience maintaining FORS accreditation standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Background in waste, recycling or construction sectors is highly advantageous.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary range £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience.
• Full‑time Monday‑Friday, 06:00‑16:00 with occasional Saturday support.
• Fully onsite role in Barking.
