Transport Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead a busy 24/7 transport operation supporting air‑freight movements across the UK. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of approximately 20 subcontracted vehicles, ensuring safe, efficient and on‑time delivery of freight.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the performance of a 24/7 transport operation, including ATF shuttle movements and South England collections/deliveries.
• Oversee a network of ~20 subcontracted vehicles, maintaining service levels and customer expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontract transport providers.
• Monitor operational performance, identify efficiency improvements and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, Working Time Directive, CAA and aviation security requirements.
• Investigate operational issues and implement solutions to minimise disruption.
• Collaborate with warehouse, operations, customer service and national transport teams for seamless communication.
• Promote a positive health & safety culture and produce operational reports and KPI dashboards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Transport Operations Manager, Transport Supervisor or similar leadership role within logistics or freight forwarding.
• Proven experience managing subcontracted transport providers or third‑party logistics partners.
• Strong understanding of fast‑paced transport operations supporting air freight.
