Transport Manager – Leeds Depot (Back Shift)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead the transport operation at our busy Leeds depot. Working a back shift starting at midday, Monday to Friday, you will own daily transport activity, driver management, fleet compliance and service performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the depot transport team and ensure full operator compliance.
• Manage drivers and daily transport activity to meet delivery requirements.
• Monitor vehicle roadworthiness, driver walk‑round checks, defects and PMI schedules.
• Oversee drivers’ hours, tachograph downloads and infringement reports in line with regulations.
• Maintain the transport management system, run sheets, usage reports and weekly overview reporting.
• Brief and debrief crews, manage service failures and communicate performance updates.
• Recruit, train, coach and develop transport colleagues, including performance and disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance, accident and incident reporting, PDA management and depot costs.

Required profile

• Hands‑on transport professional with strong leadership capability.
• Previous experience managing transport operations in a depot, multi‑drop, home delivery or logistics environment.
• Transport Manager CPC qualification.
• In‑depth knowledge of driver hours, tachograph rules, vehicle compliance, PMI schedules and health & safety.
• Ability to analyse trends, identify improvements and maintain high standards of service, safety and cost control.
