Transport Network Officer

About the role

The Passenger Transport team at Northumberland County Council is expanding and is looking for a Transport Network Officer to join its 14‑member team at County Hall in Morpeth. You will be responsible for organising safe and reliable transport services for school‑age children, college students and vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and coordinate school, college and social‑services transport in line with council policies.
• Assess eligibility of service users and ensure child safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Conduct periodic “clean‑sheet” reviews of transport routes to optimise use of public funds.
• Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives across the transport network.
• Provide high‑quality customer service to passengers, families and partner organisations.

Required profile

• Good general education with strong literacy and numeracy.
• Motivated self‑starter with a commercial mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Team‑player able to work collaboratively within a public‑sector environment.
