Transport Operations Manager

About the role

The Transport Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day running of the transport function, leading a traffic office team and managing around 40 drivers. This role is central to improving operational discipline, communication and service performance across the depot.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the traffic office team.
• Oversee daily collections, deliveries, route adherence and driver allocation.
• Maintain operational discipline and ensure fleet compliance.
• Manage driver performance, behaviour and accountability.
• Collaborate closely with pallet networks to resolve issues quickly.
• Make confident operational decisions and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a traffic office or transport management environment.
• Strong understanding of transport cost control and profit levers.
• Knowledge of transport planning and experience with pallet networks (preferred but not mandatory).
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and capacity to make decisions under pressure.
• Comfortable working in a changing, improvement‑focused environment.
