Transport Operator / Planner – Night Shift

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Operator/Planner to join a fast‑paced logistics depot in Trafford Park, Manchester. You will coordinate driver activities, manage container deliveries and ensure timely service for customers across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a fleet of 21 vehicles, 6 subcontractors and a team of 85 drivers on a daily basis.
• Liaise with ports to book delivery slots and monitor container movements.
• Use TOPS (Transport Operations Planning System) to schedule drivers and track progress.
• Monitor ETAs, reroute jobs when necessary and ensure accurate proof‑of‑delivery matching.
• Communicate updates or delays clearly to customers.
• Maintain smooth, on‑time deliveries throughout the UK.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Transport Operator or Planner (essential).
• Strong knowledge of UK geography and container transport operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems in real time and stay organised.
• Willingness to work a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern, either day or night.

Required skills

• Proficiency with TOPS (Transport Operations Planning System).
