Transport Planner

About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Planner to join our established logistics team in County Durham. The role involves coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring timely deliveries and collections while maintaining compliance with regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport schedules to guarantee timely delivery and collection of goods.
• Liaise with internal departments to align finished goods availability with loading and dispatch plans.
• Work closely with freight forwarders to arrange shipping, haulage and related logistics activities.
• Prepare, manage and maintain accurate transport and shipping documentation within required timescales.
• Oversee loading, dispatch and delivery processes to maximise operational efficiency.
• Allocate vehicles, drivers and routes to optimise service levels and performance.
• Investigate and resolve transport‑related issues promptly, delivering excellent customer service.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, transport regulations and quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in transport planning, logistics or a similar operational role.
• Strong knowledge of HGV regulations, road transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proven problem‑solving abilities and capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
