Transport Planner

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established consultancy that delivers high‑quality transport planning and civil engineering projects across the UK. The successful Transport Planner will manage projects from inception to completion, working with a collaborative team on a diverse range of developments in the Cambridge/Oxford area.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage small‑to‑medium transport planning projects, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Statements, Technical Notes, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals.
• Produce and check planning drawings such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams and access designs.
• Undertake site visits and provide professional opinions to inform scheme development.
• Attend project team meetings, client meetings and Local Highway Authority meetings, and support public consultations.
• Develop good working relationships with architects, planners and local highway officers.
• Prepare fee proposals for small to medium projects and contribute to larger bids.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in transport planning.
• Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and local planning policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work both independently and as part of a team.
