Transport Planner – Logistics Operations

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Transport Planner to join our established logistics team. In this role you will coordinate daily transport operations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently and on schedule. You will work closely with drivers, hauliers, ports, customers and internal departments to maintain smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport schedules to ensure timely delivery and collection of goods.
• Liaise with internal departments to align finished‑goods availability with loading and dispatch plans.
• Work with freight forwarders to arrange shipping, haulage and related logistics activities.
• Prepare, manage and maintain accurate transport and shipping documentation.
• Oversee loading, dispatch and delivery processes to maximise operational efficiency.
• Allocate vehicles, drivers and routes to optimise service levels.
• Investigate and resolve transport‑related issues promptly, providing excellent customer service.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, transport regulations and quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in transport planning, logistics or a similar operational role.
• Strong knowledge of HGV regulations, road transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Required skills

• Experience using transport management systems (knowledge advantageous).
